MISSION STATEMENT
St. Mary Hospital, sponsored by the Felician Sisters of Livonia, Michigan, is a voluntary, not-for-profit facility which is committed to the truest expression of Catholic values in all areas served by hospital governance, administration, medical staff, management, personnel and volunteers.

The mission of St. Mary Hospital, a full-service community hospital, is to provide a continuum of health care services to the people in the communities we serve through quality care that is family centered, cost effective, and offered in a Christlike manner. Concerned with the spiritual welfare of its patients and their families, St. Mary Hospital extends pastoral ministry in the Catholic-Christian tradition and welcomes the cooperative services of ministers to patients of other faiths.

"Responding to the needs of the times," in the spirit of Mother Angela, Foundress of the Felician Sisters, the Board of Trustees of St. Mary Hospital, its Administration and its Medical Staff will continue to seek collaborative ventures and relationships for integrated delivery networks while providing quality care and community outreach programs to promote wellness and improve the health status of the community.

Every staff member, through sensitivity to the needs of others, together with an honest commitment to justice and the reverence for life, is dedicated to preserving the personal dignity of every individual regardless of race, creed, sex, age, handicap or financial status.

VISION
St. Mary Hospital is to be recognized as the Catholic healthcare provider of choice for the residents of Livonia and the surrounding communities by continuing to enhance and meet the healthcare needs of the people we serve.

STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
PREAMBLE: Through works of mercy in healthcare institutions, the Church continues the healing ministry of Christ. Empowered by the Church, the Felician Sisters of Livonia, Michigan, have been inspired by the Franciscan Charism of their Foundress, Mother Mary Angela Truszkowska, to extend Christ's ministry of healing by establishing St. Mary Hospital. Responding to the request for a hospital which the Livonia community initiated in 1953, the Felician Sisters opened the doors of St. Mary Hospital in 1959.

PHILOSOPHY
Committed to the healing ministry of the Church, the staff of St. Mary Hospital believes in the philosophy of wholistic care which encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient.

Christ and His Mother Mary, under whose title St. Mary Hospital was established, inspire the Board of Trustees, Administration, Medical and Hospital staff, and Volunteers of St. Mary Hospital to personalize their care with the spiritual values of:

C Christlikeness
A Awareness of customer expectations
R Respect for all equally
E Excellence in quality

Reverencing each individual's basic right to life from the moment of conception until the time of natural death, the St. Mary Hospital staff subscribes to the teaching authority of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Board of Trustees, Administration, and Medical Staff through their leadership affirm the principles of social justice to provide the hospital's work force with just compensation and a work environment conducive to personal achievement and advancement.
